community

Our community recently suffered a tragic, tragic loss. The following are but words, but words that flow out of sorrow in death and tenacious hope birthed in community that is grounded in our faith. To the One who taught us how to live brokenly whole.

a mother heaves and shrieks and groans into being
life
that she did not knit together
and yet, somehow, she did

with one lusty cry, heaven gifts an imperfectly
perfect,
thrashing clay of bone and sinew and
blood and flesh

brand new and yet, already growing in
stature.
and we rejoice with throats full of fear and hearts
made of terrible wonder.

and we wonder, for the first of a million times
each second
How do we protect?
How do we grow?
How do we teach?
How do we help?
How
do
we
?

we do not know. so we pray that
GOD
would do what we cannot do.
and somewhere, somehow,

children that we did not push
into this world with our own
heaving and shrieking
become ours too.

We care
We love
We pray
We watch

because it takes a community
to grow a life.

crying and laughing in rhythms that sometimes
bring us to our knees
crushed
together even in silence

imperfectly perfect clay
pots of bones and sinew and heart and
soul
stuck together and moving as the body of Christ.

a love song in the scream of our silent tears

and YOU, you are faithful to birth our life
and write our moments of eternity and
knit
us together as community and walk with us

tenacious FATHER who is ours orchestrating
seeing, embracing, breathing life into us stubbornly
present
so that we are never unheard.

not one
shriek.
groan.
laugh.
sigh.
breath.

Jesus.

tenaciously present in our
inhale and
exhale in our
joy and
our sorrow in our
coming and
going in our
birth and
death in our
discovering how to live

as the beautiful body that is broken and groaned                                                                                 into being so that the
life
grace flows and lasts forever.

Tenacious Love.
